Be a Volunteer

“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” ~ Marjorie Moore

The Broken Paddle Canoe Club is run purely by volunteers, much of the time by the same small, dedicated group. Every club event takes time to set up, run and pack up. However, the more hands involved, the lighter the work for everyone!

As an incentive for members to become more involved in the organisation of club activities, each member who commits to 10 hours of volunteering to the club per year, receive $45.00 off their 12 month club membership.

Being involved in organisation of the club activites is enjoyable anbd rewarding, as well as a fantastic way to meet more people of the community.

Opportunities to volunteer include the following:

  • Boonah Show clean up
  • BBQ at events and or club nights
  • Packing boats for trips
  • Coaching Juniors
  • Assisting with the preparation of club trips
  • Equipment maintainence

All volunteering will be done with the assistance of experienced club members.
